Thank you for taking some time to give me some much needed info.

No problem...most of us here want to helps folks learn, even if we have to give bad news, so your chickeneering is a pleasant and productive experience.
The first year is tough, so much to learn, like getting sip of water out of a firehose.

True it's a lot to learn and do but it's a satisfying job. I can't believe I was missing out on this experience for so long. I'm obsessed now and want to learn everything I can and continue to expand my flock.
