Hen? Won't stop crowing!! Help!

I personally thought of using velcro once but read this can choke and has already killed a number of birds. One suggestion I thought was clever is keep them in the dark until you are up and about. Maybe you could find peeps nearby that needs a handsome little stud ;),

you can get one more rooster and have a bachelor flock! two shouldn’t be too hard to keep indoors! then they can have supervised outdoor time, as long as they have a good diet and some outside time they’ll be happy and healthy

Aw, he's a pretty guy. Good job rescuing him. He was probably dumped there once his owners discovered he was a boy. It's sad, but happens all the time. Don't use a rooster collar, they can restrict the bird's breathing, and get hung up on things. Roosters/cockerels crow. Don't try to stop them from being the birds they are. He will probably have to be rehomed unfortunately. If you live in town, roosters are usually illegal to keep. You could look for a local BYCer, then you could keep in touch and still visit him. Good luck with him!

that is definitely NOT a pullet. definitely IS a cockerel and you are not going to stop the crowing he is beautiful cockerel does he have a booming crow or a little one and imo if its not against the laws for you to have chickens I would not care what the neighbors say

I have hen that crow in the past until I got the rooster then she stopped. It is an funny experience. I also have few hens that have spur as long as 3/4" long.

I didn't say it didn't happen - only that it is rare.
We get a lot of people who read something about how hens, sometimes and very rarely, crow. And it's true. But they think their crow-er is a hen when it's FAR more likely that they're just IDing their rooster wrong.
Which is also OK, it's OK to be hopeful, and it's normal to be wrong. That's how we learn. But it's worth knowing that hens crowing is simply rare and if your bird crows it's probably because it's a rooster.
