Hen won't use one leg

I had a scare last night. I work an early second shift scheduale so let her go to roost. My plan was to get her down and crate her with aspirin water. As long as she isn't jumping down I'm hoping that helps.
I go into the coop and do a head count. I can't find her! I go out to the run and with my cell phone flash light start searching. She's not out there.
I go back inside and see this. I had a good laugh at her little head peaking out.

She apparently decided the climb up wasn't worth the effort. Still higher then I'd like so I crated her. She wasn't happy with me this morning but I hope she had some water to make her feel better. Gave her some nutri drench and let her go. I'll make her an egg lunch again and see if I can get some aspirin water in her.

What a cute picture:)

It sounds like she is starting to limit some of her activities.
The one I had that injured her leg (jumping from a roost - I saw her do it) could climb up, but couldn't get back down. I would go out early everyday and take her from the roost. She still doesn't get as high - occasionally, she stays on the roost and raises a ruckus until I go get her:rolleyes: I don't mind, I'm usually home, but they can get a bit spoiled.

I hope she gets better soon - she seems like a character.

She was not happy with me this morning. My BF works first shift so he lets them out in the morning. I said she would be ok till I went in and let her out of the crate. She was protesting loudly when she heard me at the door. Her LH sister was checking on her too.
I call her Road Runner. She very slight and on the small side for a LH. When she runs not only is she quick but she leans forward like the Road Runner.

LOL they can be bossy.

I wouldn't mind having a Brown Leghorn. I have a White Leghorn (I know this is different from yours) but she is so slight and slim against my large layers. She zips around, tries to fly and everywhere she goes that combs just flops around  - she's so nosy and gets up in your business - I just really like her.

I'm hoping your girl shows improvement by having her activity restricted:fl

Both LH I have would rather I leave them alone. Much prefer the company of other chickens. They do fine once I have a hold of them. They are vocal though. Generally murmurs and soft noises but lots of them.

So I made up some mash (wet food) with aspirin water to try and get some in her again. Not sure how much she drank in the night. While she snacked I gave her a leg rub. I don't know why but I have a feeling something is pinched. A nerve or a vein or something.
IMG_0407.JPEG She didn't seem to mind at all.
I started moving her feathers around to try and see if I can see...something...
IMG_0405.JPEG I found this yellow area.
She didn't mind me touching it so I rubbed that area specifically.
IMG_0406.JPEG Four minutes later. It turned all red.
She still didn't seem bothered by it. I stopped after I got the picture.
What the Hell? I'll definitely be checking it again tonight. So weird though.

She tucked herself into the nest box again. I looked at that spot and it was still red. It could be my imagination but I swear her leg felt warmer. I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure.

So plan B. The weather here has taken a turn and I'm afraid she'll be to cold in a crate on the floor.

Contained in a nest box! I'm hoping the towel will keep her warmer and quieter. With the long weekend I'm going to try more frequent smaller feedings. I've been using the aspirin water to make up some Kaytee baby bird food. I make it almost a cookie dough consistency.
What we won't do for our chickens! She eats so much then slows down. So sitting in my lap I scoop a little blob on my finger and she'll it. I attempt to keep her butt over the edge of my lap. The inevitable poop will come. Did good till I didn't get my foot out of the way. Yep, right into my shoe.
Then used my shirt as a napkin.
She does seem more herself. Talking and such. I hope she's getting better.

That looks good:)

Yup! My arm, pants and shirt have been used as napkin more times than I can count - it's just so convenient! Wait until one flies to your shoulder and poops down your back -LOL

The Kaytee bird food is supposed to be good stuff - I hope she gets better.
