Henpecked hen has HOLE in her back-Update

Yea I want to know also..hope everything is well. I wouldnt worry about her being ok as far as the wound goes. I have seen amazing healing from 2 pigeons and a rooster this year. The whole back of his head was I am guessing burnt and he made it! Now I just have to get rid of the other roosters so he can relax!

She made it through the night, both of them did!

I did take pictures and I will post soon. I did give her a bath and washed all that Benzocaine off and put the Blu-Kote on her today. She then got some scrambled eggs and yogurt and did eat.

She hasn't moved off the roost most of the day. She seems to be sitting still and snuggling her Easter Egger pal. The wound looked drier today so it seemed better and the blood seemed to be clotting in the deeper areas which makes me think her pal isn't pecking out of curiosity.

She does stumble when I put her down then she seems OK. Maybe she is in some pain but I am happy they made it through the night.

I'm glad both of your hens are doing well- I still have one concern and that is the mixed advice I've read about the blu-kote. It was recommended on here by more experienced chicken keepers, and now on my thread I was advised to maybe NOT use it. It dried and helped my hen's wound start healing surprisingly quickly, but I'm discontinuing use until I can get a definitive answer on its effects. I'd hold off buying it until we can (hopeflully) get an answer tonight. I'll try to take a pic tonight and download to my thread so you can see the difference in the appearance of the injury from Sunday to today. Chickeepoo seems comfortable and is managing well.

I have never used blu-kote. I think we need a sticky for basic wound care on here, I will ask my veterinarian (who is a chicken nut like us) for some assistance.
There is a lot of fancy stuff that is not needed, being recommended and some of it actually harmfull.
Saline solution is one of the simplest and safest products to use for cleaning wounds. Don't worry about stitches. Chickens heal very well on their own. I've had a chicken with it's butt chewed off recover completely. You can apply neosporin, but apparently there is a kind available with pain medication, that is not recommended.
Your chicken is probably in shock and putting all her energy into healing. Just keep her in a safe and warm place and let her rest.
Feed her extra protein to help her make new tissue.

Here are some pictures of the wound. These are actually looking better than yesterday believe it or not. Sorry for the graphic pics.

It started with them pecking her beard off
