Hi everyone! [IMG] I was pondering over something and was hoping that someone could give me some insight, advice, or recommendations...the problem is that I will soon be getting more hens. So in total i will have 18 hens and one rooster. I was wondering if I should get another rooster or is one rooster to 18 hens okay....?

Quote:If you want... it is probable that only a few hens will get bred, and so fertility will go down. But if you just want a nice egg laying flock, it should work just fine!

Well I do want my hens to hatch chicks eventually. .I was also worried about the rooster's ability to watch over all those hens...[IMG]

Quote:If you get worried, get another roo. Keep in a place where roo 1 can see him but not fight for a few weeks. Than let him with the others. Fighting will be minimal, and the boys will quickly decide who belongs to whom. I have two roos, each one has two hens... and they never fight, and watch over each others gals.
