Hens are dying right after mating

Are they out of breath?After mating

Not that we've seen. My son and I are outside with them frequently and I have never seen any signs of distress during or after mating. Its really quite sad that this is happening. Sounds like the only explaination is that he is accidentally crushing them in some way...

I would be concerned that he kept mateing her after she was down. That's not normal.
