Hello, just needing help on my hen's health, she is looking slightly under the weather.

On Christmas day our Chicken got attacked by a fox (luckily just her tail feathers pulled out), but since then she has not been laying.

Now after the cold weather she seems to be getting worse. Her Comb is rather chapped and has shrunk, its also lost some color. Also her tail feathers did grow back but on her head there are white lines that look as if she is growing new feathers (She is black and part rode island red). We have no idea whats the matter and i cannot see anything on the internet that will help.

One of our chickens has recently died from bleeding from the rear end and not eating or drinking much. We then did get a new chicken a week after boxing day ( the ill chicken gave her a bit of a hard time)

Can anybody please help or knows what may be wrong?

Thanks

Basic support measures can make ALL the difference.... first bring her in (as long as she is using her limitedresources to keep warm she has nothing left over to address getting better).
GET A GOOD SUPPLEMENT like AviaCharge 2000(available for purchase online from McMurry or Strombergs > it is a COMPLETE supplement formulated at the NRC recommended min. allowance and all in the right ratios to each other)...
Give your bird POLYVISOL enfamil > three drops a day for two weeks in beak (this is a childrens A-B-

vitamin > get the normal one not the one that is fortified with extra iron)
Cook an egg every now and then and mix it through her feed >
Offer her a LIVE culture yogurt free choice (plain not flavored)
Hopefully this will be enough to get her back on track.

Is it possible that she could just be molting? This would explain the not laying, and it is natural for the comb to shrink and lose color when they are not laying. I will try and find you some pics of molting...How is her behavior otherwise? Is she eating well and moving around? how do her droppings look? The high protein and vitamins dlh mentions will help her bring in new feathers.

Here's some pics of molting to compare:

Looking at some of the pictures it does look slightly malting like, not too sure i will keep an eye on her.

She is eating & drinking, moving around well, her dropping are fine.
