Our Blue Laced Red Wyandotte just started laying. Four eggs so far.

Her first, second and fourth eggs were all very small, but her third egg was "normal" sized. Like, the size you'd get when you buy pastured raised eggs from the store.

But now I'm wondering if that third egg was actually hers, or from one of our other hens that started to lay a few weeks ago and then stopped entirely.

So, is it possible that new hens lay eggs in different sizes?

Here's a fairy egg my 1 year old hen laid last week. It's kinda hard to see the real size.
The egg next to it is the average egg I get from her.
Pretty common for new layers, not so much 1 y/o birds.

We had a double yolks one last week that was huge, then she went back to small eggs. Another big one today!

Was the 3rd 'normal' sized egg a double yolker?
Size can vary somewhat with a new layers.
Can take up to a month or so for things to smooth out.
Some pullets eggs get bigger within days, others take weeks or months to get up to thaat birds 'normal' size.
