Hens not laying but preparing nests??

Hi,

I recently have been randomly adding hens to my flock. I know when you take a laying hen from it's surroundings and enter it into another surrounding it throughs off laying. However, I noticed these 4 new hens (that I've had for 12 days now) Are not laying but, they keep prepping the nests as if they are going to. They are 8-12 months old and only one is laying. Any ideas as to what is going on with them? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Some of my hens did the same thing. They would be in and out of the nest for a couple days then they would finally lay an egg.

Thanks for the feedback. So, I guess maybe its normal but, I've never seen this before. My husband seems to think the Heat up here in the Northeast isn't helping much either. I just hope they get to laying soon.
