Hens Or Roosters PLEASE HELP!

It's going to be hard to find out there are many breeds that look like that. And chicks can be sexed as early as 7weeks but I would watch them for signs.

I was wondering about the first two. But the one that has the most obvious large comb is definitely a heat, correct? And about the genetic mutation, I am completely ignorant and I know I can Google it, but does that mean that they could pretty much have issues health issues? I have never seen anything like this and the person that we got these chicks from said that it’s a certain breed that has five toes. And I looked at her like I may be new but I don’t think I’m that new lol

At some point in the past, a mutation happened (a change in one gene.) That caused a chicken to have extra toes.

Since that point, the gene for extra toes has been inherited like any other gene.

Domestic chickens are different than their wild junglefowl ancestors. Every difference is the result of one mutation or another (feather color, egg color, body size & shape, extra toes, etc.)

Extra toes do not mean the chicken is prone to any other kind of health issues.

The extra toe is pretty much like any other toe. On some chickens the toenail can get too long and need trimming (typically happens if that toe points up or sideways, so it doesn't wear down as the chicken walks around and scratches the ground.) Trimming that toenail is the same as trimming the nail on any other chicken toe, or any bird toe, or on a dog or cat.

Several chicken breeds do have extra toes: Silkies, Dorkings, Houdans, Sultans, and Faverolles (and maybe a few more that I haven't heard of.)

Any time a chicken with extra toes is bred with a chicken who has the normal number of toes, they have a chance of producing chicks with extra toes.
