Hens perching on waterer

I have an outdoor galvinized waterer in the chicken run (they also have a plastic waterer in the coop) and they keep peching on top and thus pooping in the water.

What do you guys do to keep your chickens off it?

Tape a plastic funnel on top that way they can't perch on it

I never solved this problem until I bought the double wall fount metal waterers. I put my original open waterer outside the pen/coop just for some additional water when they free range, and every day, I clean it out because they just love to sit on it....and then of course they poop in it.
