We are moving across the country in the Spring and can’t take our flock with us so we are trying to find good homes for them.

I’ve been posting locally on Craigslist but that has gone terribly. I’m hoping I can find great homes here with this caring community!

So here’s what we have…

We are in Slab City and rescue a lot of animals out here. We have taken in multiple dogs, cats, tortoises, chickens and ducks. These chickens and ducks are all rescued from people in the area who either couldn’t keep them safe and cool during the hot summers or would leave them free ranging (which is a no-go here because of roaming dogs).

We now have 21 chickens and 8 ducks that need safe and caring homes.

CHICKENS

The chickens are split into 4 groups, each with a rooster.

Group A: 2 female game hens and a med/lg sized rooster.

Group B: 6 large laying hens (rhode island, barred rock, Orpington) and a med sized rooster.

Group C: 5 small, black bantam hens plus a small/med sized rooster.

Group D: 3 small white bantam hens, 1 med sized leghorn hen and a small sized rooster. The leghorn is blind in one eye and the other hens/roosters pick on her. She’s in with this group of tiny chickens and a tiny, chill rooster so she isn’t overpowered!

DUCKS

The ducks are split into 2 groups - a group of 6 (one is a male) and another male/female pair.

Duck Group A: 2 Pekin females, 3 Pekin/Rouen hybrid females, 1 Pekin Male

Duck Group B: 1 Pekin female, 1 Rouen male. The female was stunted from birth and is a bit smaller than most Perkins. Her legs are also deformed so she is able to push herself around but it’s difficult, so that’s why she isn’t kept with the larger group because she gets run over! She gets along just fine living with the male we have her with and in a pen where she can’t get stuck behind things and no deep water. If you’re interested in helping her out let me know and I can give you more details on how we keep her happy :)

So let me know if you’re interested in taking in any of these wonderful birds! We love them all so much and are sad to have to part with them but knowing they are going to good homes makes it easier.

Thanks!

Try posting this in the Ca. state thread. Good luck in finding homes for them.
Thanks :)

I was recommended that when I briefly mentioned re-homing birds in my introduction post. I have posted in the CA thread a week or two ago but did not get any responses.

I suppose I could post again in that thread and link to this post.
