More pics putting on bandage 2 this morning. I cut the vet wrap this time, to try to make the bandage fit better. It is improved over the 1st attempt.

For the love of Jesus don't super glue her. If an infection sets up in it, and there isn't an exit wound, you will have to Lance it, or needle syringe drain it. My biggest suggestion would be to get some Blue Kote from Tractor Supply, clean it good, and spray it with that. It's straight purple and will stain your skin and anything else. But I have a duck who had gotten attacked by something wild and it ripped a huge chunk of skin off the back of her neck, I mean to the point I thought I was going to have to kill her because I thought it would never heal and not get infected. I sprayed it with blue kote twice in about a months time and it healed perfectly and she also already has all her fur there back I hope your baby feels better. I know the worry you're having right now! She will get better, it just takes time!

The blue kote keeps it dry and it's also an antiseptic! I made the mistake of not using it on a puncture wound on a chicken because I couldn't find it through her feather, and she ended up having and infection and we had to Lance it! She's healed now though also! But miss Carol the duck had no infection what so ever and hers was so much worse.

I just looked up blue kote and one of the main ingredients is gentian violet and I just remembered that stuff is amazing for warding off infection and helping to heal (from my personal, use on myself). I am so glad you reminded me of this stuff and glad to learn it is safe for chickens.

This is bandage 2 , even though you already saw # 3. She got rid of one of the white pads as soon as she got down off the table. I've started putting a lanolin cream on, on top of the triple antibiotic, to keep everything moist and keep dirt and bugs out of unbandageable areas.

I got blue kote the day i got ellis, but i havent used it on her yet. Nice to hear some more votes for it. I did spray it on my other hen's red head today. First use.
So what's the deal?
Why do we have some votes for keep cuts dry, breathe, etc,
And other votes for keep em moist?

Today after her dirt bathing, i cut off her bandage and poured povidone iodine on everything, sprayed it with vetricyn everywhere, smeared triple antibiotic on it, and coated everything with corona multipurpose ointment. I smeared a pad with corona ointment (lanolin plus other ingredients,) then with antibiotic, stuck it on her neck,and wrapped her with vet wrap. I think it might be a little tight. Im going to go out and see whether she needs aspirin or a looser wrap. Something's not quite as good as before.

Haha! Mamabird89, I'll consider your advice!
Isnt that what crazyglue was invented for? And don't surgeons use it? My husband and i use it when we cut our hands. Works really well.
I wouldn't seal it all up. Just tack it closed in more places.
