Please Help!!
My two cochin hens that I have been treating with Tylan 50 are still sick. They act fine but they have runny noses and sneezing. What can I do now? I gave them Tylan 50 down their throats for 4 days..nothing happened. So I started injecting it on Sunday. So that is injections on Sun, Mon, and Tues. They are still sick though. How long can I give them the injections?? They are seperated from the flock but this morning I heard a couple of the healthy hens sneezing. This is disappointing as I treated them with the Tylan 50 down the throat when I did the sick chickens, so they shouldn't have anything. I am at a loss. I am so frustrated!!!

I really need to get them back with the flock ASAP, but I don't want to make everyone sick!!

I can only empathize with you as I am going through the same thing. The vet put my hen and rooster on Cipro last night with injections of fluid to reverse the dehydration. The roo seems better the hen not much better. I think we see a third hen showing symptoms now. It is a nightmare. I had a lab test done on the roo last night which will tell us if he has one of the infectious respiratory diseases. Then we have to decide if we will need to cull the whole flock. I never imagined this horror. My thoughts are with you.

Chicken zoo, I am giving the .5 cc once a day. I am scared to keep on giving it to the as I am running out of places to stick them. The poor things are already black and blue from previous attempts.

I found out why my healthy ones are sneezing. While I have been in school everyday they have been walking across the backyard onto the hill where the sick ones are and just hanging out there!!

I am to the culling point, seriously. I have never done it before and I'm really scared and sickened. All of my animals are like children to me... They are such sweet hens and they have been really good about taking their shots as if they know that I am trying to save them!

Thank you NurseMary for your kind words. I hate that you are going through this too.
