Hi,

I'm located in central North Carolina where the temperatures currently took a dip into the low 50's at night and low 70's during the day with Irma's passing through Monday. All of my hens have stopped laying, save for a single egg from my Leghorn 2 days ago. That is the only egg I've gotten since before Irma. We didn't get hit hard; only thunderstorms and high winds. Is this a normal response from the chickens? Is it the sudden temperature dip? Should I expect them to start laying regularly again soon?

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Anything that stresses chickens will interrupt their laying. Drastic weather changes, storms, moving to a new home... anything. These interruptions can last a few weeks or up to a couple of months.

Haven't seen an egg since Irma. Is there something I can give the hens to get them to start laying again?
