Recently aquired some birds and were told they were all hens. Noticed after getting them home that one has 1.5 inch spurs and another has what looks to be the beginning of a pair. He was told they are hens regardless. Is this a possibilty or have both he and I been fooled?

If you could post pics that may help decide. That said, hens with spurs is not all that uncommon, especially in game/asiatic breeds.

I have a hen with big spurs! Really, quite impressive spurs. She's definitely a hen. Lays the prettiest egg you ever saw.

But, yes, if you can, post pictures. The good folks here at BYC will be able to tell you if your birds are hens or roos.
