Just wondering if my last 2 are hens or young Roos? Or is it still to early to be 100% sure? They are 11 weeks old now. Hen? This video was taken this morning. First time I’ve heard this one crow like that, but she did it a few times. I posted my 2 other ones on here and everyone said they are Cockerels unfortunately!:/ We did pick from the female only bin, but I guess that’s TSC and just my luck! Thank you everyone for all the help lately, I really appreciate it!

Don’t feel too bad...sexing errors happen from the best hatcheries. Usually around 10% error or higher. In your case, maybe a straight run batch was commingled with a sexed batch or was just simply mislabeled.

Right my step kids and I where so excited to see that our local TSC actually had the “female only Easter Eggers” and that they lay unique colorful eggs. Also just loved how unique the actual chickens look themselves. I think the hardest part is having them for 11 weeks now always being around them we got real close with them. They jump on our laps and roost on our legs sometimes. Just so sweet and now seeing that they will have to go makes us so sad. Maybe next time we’ll have better luck!

Thank you everyone so much for all the replies! I would be lost and have a pen full of Roos wondering why I’m not getting eggs lol if it wasn’t for you guys! 💕

FWIW, we get the vast majority of our chicks from a long established, yet smaller, hatchery. We buy EE every year along with many other breeds. They sell sexed chicks. The ONLY two missexed chicks we’ve gotten from them are EE!! Maybe harder to vent sex??

That’s what we are starting to think also. We have already decided not to get chicks from TSC again not only because of that but have had many other problems with that company before that we just decided we rather spend our money at an Amish store. Plus side we’ve found out everything is cheaper at this Amish feed mill! We have thought about not doing chicks anymore just for the fact you never know what your going to get and I’m a constant worrier, and getting chicks add a whole new leave of stress. We just got 2 year old egg layers from a friend that just has to many. They informed us it may take them up to a week to get comfortable enough to lay eggs again. The next day I went out to check on them like I do like 100 times a day lol and noticed 2 eggs! It was so excited since we are new to chicken raising and our first chicks still only 11 weeks and 3/4 being roosters no eggs yet lol. Just seems less stressful and heartbreaking to me to get hens that I know are for sure hens and I’ll for sure get eggs. Only down side is they aren’t as friendly and used to me yet as much as my original baby’s are. I’m hoping the more I spend time with them the more they will get used to me even with them already being a year old! Thanks for reading my long, wordy comments!😂💕
