ok i just recieved four hens and i got them late last night. this morning i went in to the coop to open it up for the day , i found a hen in a bed with an egg. before i got to the egg she stepped on it and broke it. did she do this so i couldnt take the egg or did she do it on accident? should i be worried?

It was an accident. :) Also, possibly the eggs have soft or porous shells, so they break easier.

She is probably just excited/scared at being in a new place and was careless as she moved around. They aren't smart enough to break their eggs so you can't eat them, lol. Put some fake eggs in their nest box and encourage them to roost in their designated spot so that doesn't happen again. :)
