OK, well I put her on the deck so I could dump out her shavings and clean put new ones. figured it was a nice day and she could use some vitamin D LOL! well, I forgot her buddy Pouncer was out of the coop... so Yogurt took off with her. they were happy to see each other. Yogurt was making chicken noises and everything and she perked right up. I put her cage back together and brought her back inside. she even ate some dandilion leaves or something like that before I could grab her.

she's back in here and is taking a nap as it took a lot out of her.

not sure it was a good idea since she's tired now, but I thought maybe she could use some sun. maybe next time I won't do that. I also didn't want her pooping all over my house while I cleaned the cage, my main reason for sticking her outside for 2 min.

she did look really happy to see her pals though!

now theyre all egg songing outside in the coop and she looks like she's going to start. oh please no! the baby is napping! LOL!

She doesn't need grit for the yoghurt and eggs, you'll want to put some out for her if you (or the kids

)start feeding her other stuff. I had to put chick grit out when my fuzzies were only 2 days old, 'cause my darn kids kept tossing stuff in the brooder so they could watch the chicks chase each other around and play keep away.

I bet she enjoyed her outdoor adventure and if she gets to go out and mingle with the flock once in awhile it will make it easier when she goes back full time. Often times when you have a sick one or even a broody that you seperated from the flock for awhile the rest of them will forget that she is one of them and be mean to her like they would to any new addition. By letting her go out with them every so often they'll remember who she is and not be so mean to her when she goes back to the coop.

hmm yeah, good ideas

I'm not so sure it was a good idea though, she's been doing a lot of sleeping now. she's pretty much been sleeping since. I think the adventure took too much out of her.

so today her face is nice and red. almost all the purple is gone from her comb too! YIPPIE! she almost looks normal... well except for the sleeping all the time part, and not eating a lot.

I just am not sure how to know whether or not the tetracyclin is going to be enough or not or if she's going to need something stronger to recover the rest of the way...? how do I know?

I *think* you would be better off with the injectable pen-g. The tetra is a pretty weak antibiotic and while it's encouraging that it has helped her as much as it has I would be surprised if it was strong enough to get her over this.
