Does anyone have any experience in using herbal remedies in helping their chickens get over illness?

I've used olive leaf extract on myself & my dogs to fight off infection with great success; I find it works better than antibiotics and without the side affects. Was thinking of using it instead of antibiotics when I have a sick bird.

Anyone have any experience in this area?

I haven't used Olive Leaf, but we have used Sovereign Silver before. Silver was widely used as an antibacterial, antiviral before the invention of antibiotics. We put it in their water when sick or injured and also have sprayed wounds with it. It works great! We had a hen that was attacked by a dog with serious external injuries and was healing wonderfully with no infection. (She later had to be put down because of a major prolapse- darn those things we can't see!)

I also use VetRX which is camphor for any minor congestion the chickens may have.

We also do ACV and Poultry Protector.

I use garlic (not exactly an herb), it works great to stimulate/boost the immune system. I also use Rescue Remedy (Five Flower) for shock/trauma/fear etc.,..
