Here are my 4 peachicks..............

Sorry for your loss.:( I do know that for the first few weeks I had to keep a close eye on mine and watch for "pasty butt" especially if they stay under brooder heater a lot and sit a lot. Mine are 2 weeks old and still I have to wipe a bottom occasionally.

What happened? Well Ruby I am not sure. All 4 were eating and drinking well, the splayed legs on the one I helped were back to normal then one of them started staying under the brooder when the others were out. I don't know if the others bullied that one because it was out a day later or if there was just something not right with it. I took it out and put it on a heat pad away from the others with a towel over it but it died. Quite a shock because the chickens I have hatched have been OK if they make it out of the shell. These are my first peachicks so I don't know if they are a lot more tricky than chickens.
Yes, pea chicks are very challenging for the first 6 months. Please link up with the BYC members in the peafowl section:

They are super knowledgeable and helpful. I hatched and raised mine for only 3-4 months but I did it for someone else. So I have some knowledge but not as much as others who own and breed them. I’m sorry you lost one!! :hugs
