Here Chick Chick

I am liking Chicken Math! It's funny how 16 guineas turned into 6 more chicks. My chicken math says that the guineas have their 'job', so why not have chickens to do a 'job' too. So, technically I only have 2 birds.

What this really means, of course - is that they all get very spoiled and are lazy, which is fine with me.

I have a feeling, after looking at all of the different breeds, I will definitely need to get more after these are grown. Because, well, you know - - they just looked like they needed a good home. hahahahahaha

Really looking forward to seeing how they mature and their personalities change. I've heard some folks say that their chickens will follow them around the yard.

Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome

Follow [them] around the yard? Oh, pshaw! That's NOTHING! Forget to close a screen door some day....

But who wouldn't want a handsome fella like this adorning one's yard and taking care of the flock?

It's true he's not needed to get these,

but there are a lot of benefits of having a rooster.

(He's waiting whilst I think of them.....)

Oh, and

They came walking in the back door? that's really funny and the look on the roosters face is priceless.

What beautifully colored birds. So, after reading several posts and doing even more research - I am hoping they are easter eggers. (well, and pullets for that fact). not that it much matters, they will still help with the snakes and mice.

Pardon their somewhat ratty appearance in the pics below. They decided to take a bath in their water after dinner and all of their fluffy little feathers are already falling out and being replaced with some handsome looking ones. We must be doing something right, they certainly seem to be growing like mad.

Will post some pics in a moment or two.

Ok - here the little babies are

Like a human baby, they seem to eat, poo, and sleep most of the time

It amazed me how much food 7 chicks could consume in a day. There was some waste, but even then they were eating huge amounts of starter.

I agree eat, poop, sleep, repeat. (maybe there should be 2 "poop"s in there)?

They are REALLY cute.
