Joined today after my sister telling me about this site and getting me answers about my ducks from here for years. My name is Mel and my husband and I bought 5 acres after I was diagnosed with stomach cancer and survived the surgery, chemo and radiation. We decided if we waited for a good time to have animals, I wouldn't have any. The place came with peacocks and pigeons and I have added pygmy goats, a mini donkey, 2 ponies, ducks, 3 huge dogs, an abandoned cat and after Mimi telling me for years I needed some (drum roll here) chickens and then the chicken math started. Just brought home 21 chicks the school hatched out 2 months ago doubling the flock. I'm sure I'm going to have lots of questions and if I can't get ahold of the sis, I'll be asking. I've already found lots of good info just roaming through the forum. Good night from my little bit of farm happiness.

Hi and :welcome

Sounds like it's very busy on your farm!
Enjoy your new additions. :D

Thanks everybody, Husband and I just went up to the coop as I now need more roosting space and nest boxes. Any tips on size of boxes? Chickens are all sizes. I have Silkies, Barred Rock, RIR, Delewares, etc. Daughter has fun at the Co Op when chickens come in as I let her pick chicks. Hubby just needs dimensions and how far off the floor. Thanks
