Here we go again...a neighbor's rant

Well.... I do have 2 of his chickens from his third flock! :gig

They were RESCUED, not STOLEN! One was being chased by a fox. I opened my front door, this poor little EE hen flew up on the porch straight at me, and the fox that was hot on her tail made a quick exit stage left. She sat on my porch swing, clearly in shock, so I picked her up and put her in a dog crate. She would have been fox food if I had just let her go. Two weeks later, I saw her sister getting chased by a fox in my security camera, and by the time I got my gun and ran out the back door he had already grabbed her and was carrying her off towards the woods. I shot and he dropped her, but quickly picked her up again, so I shot again and he dropped her. As the hen started to run off, the fox turned to go after her again so I just started shooting rapid fire and he took off in the opposite direction. I found her huddled up against a tree and scooped her up. Half her tail was gone and she was stripped down her back with two teeth marks, so I brought her in and treated her wounds. The way I see it I saved them; I EARNED them!

Possession is 9/10ths of the law...

Update...a rather sad update. The neighbor is down to 2 hens (there were at least 10). No rooster. This flock didn't even last 2 months. The moron doesn't realize he's just increasing the predator population by handing them a free range buffet multiple times per year. Worse yet, its my other neighbor and me that has to deal with it since he obviously doesn't care.

What a bummer. I just don't know how people can be so careless with their animals lives.
I know - its almost a form of animal cruelty the way he raises his chickens.
A couple springs ago my boyfriend went over to tell him about the fox getting his chickens, he said "We've noticed your missing a few chickens..." then the neighbor cut him off and said "I am? Are you sure? I haven't noticed." He didn't even know he was missing flock members! Anyway, the conversation ended with the neighbor saying, "I don't have a way to lock them up - they will just have to fend for themselves." They can't fend for themselves - THEY ARE CHICKENS!!!

Well if he doesn’t even notice he is missing birds from predator attacks I think you should catch them all and just sell them. He will probably think they got eaten.

Tell him to go get some more chickens soon he’s running low. Don’t want the foxes starting on your birds.
