Here we go........ hurricane season

No hurricanes in Colorado. We are having a very wet summer though. Flash flood warnings tonight. Good thing I have ducks instead of chickens, but I may have to get water wings for the quail!

OHHHHHH I HATE hurricanes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in southern Louisiana. ughhhhhhhhh They always come straight for us! I stayed during katrina and it was very hard for us. We have horses and just to see them in the pasture while a monster storm just blows them around is just horrible to look at. I cant imagine what they go through. My chickens are probably scared to death by all the wind rain and trees. Its soo loud too. I feel helpless! I try to convince my mom to let me bring all the chickens inside but she never lets me

I wont evacuate with out my babies! My worst fear is that the barn will just collapse. Just thinking about it makes me really mad and upset!

Seeing as how I live in earthquake country, I can honestly say that the worst we get from Pacific hurricanes is the aftermath of VERY humid weather (I am in the desert, used to 10% humidity or less) and the thunderstorms that wreak havoc and cause flash floods. Depending on how bad the weather is because of the hurricane, we call seismic activity "this is 5.5 weather" "No, more like 4.7".

but the best part is the generous people that drove around in trucks and gave families buckets upon buckets of ice AT NO CHARGE

It was like that here after Floyd with people helping each other out. We were living in town then and I was the only one around with a generator. My next door neighbors on either side both had their refrigerators on my back porch plugged in.
