Here's a great example!

That is one strange looking egg. I have never had any birds lay anything even resembling that monstrosity. Thank goodness.

The blue/green oddball egg is from a 3 yr old EE layer Cleo's Friend after her second molt. She has been having little snibbles on the end of the egg, but that one she outdid herself!
The shell itself is thin. Do you really think it's too much calcium?

I have a mature EE that has the same problem although not as extreme as yours. Her shells are very thin and usually have a knobbly bit at the end. All my hens have the same diet and the rest lay normal eggs. If it's a calcium issue I'd say it is with that particular hen and probably not what you're feeding them.

The bad part is, she usually lays a blue egg so I was hoping to breed her, but not after these problems:( She just isn't working well in her egg factory! I saw her filling up on BOSS this evening so maybe that will help?

@czwally-- her previous eggs the past two weeks looked like yours with the lil swizzle on the ends! Is yours a new layer?

I had a 5 yr old EE lay the same kind of eggs--biggest problem was the little knob would get knocked off and the inside exposed. I have a feeling it is an internal problem with the machinery not calcium since all the hens were on the same diet and only one was laying that kind of egg. Maybe its the chicken's idea of a modern art work and she's just being creative

woodmort, perhaps it's a problem with older chickens or older EEs? Mine is 3 yrs old.
Anyone else out there have these? If so, how old is your hen?
