Heres my brooder, what do you think??? Please look!

No. Unless it is 100 degrees in your room which I doubt. Day olds need alot of warmth or they can die. They need a heat lamp. You need to look at the temp and decrease it weekly. It should be warm in there BEFORE you add them to the brooder.

Even if the temperature is hot where you live- the ducklings will still need a heat source and something to protect them from any drafts. They can chill and die quickly- especially if they get a bit wet from playinging the drinking water.

Also a wire floor is not good for their fragile feet- you might need to put something else on the floor as well.

Ok, I will get the heat lamp up in one sec, and I will find something to put on the bottom. Thanks guys! BTW they just got here, they are doing fine and non are dead thankfully! And no extras.

I agree about the wire floor. I always use liner in my wire brooders. This liner kept my duck brooder immaculate. The swishing and playing in the water allowed the water to drain out through the liner onto my catch pan or onto the ground (I have outside brooders as well.) So, there was no mess inside the brooders and the babies were able able to stay clean and dry.

ETA: And it is VERY easy to wash. There is so much on the roll, you can cut it specifically for your brooder and have several pieces to use. When you are ready to change out the liner, you can put in another liner while you wash (warm water and soad) the used liner.

Good luck.

That's great! What breeds did you get and where did you get them from?

and keep the muck and water in a little as well
hmm.png

they will play in the water, they will empty it out, and they'll manage to wet down everything within a foot of the sides near the waterer...
if you've got a slightly larger tub, one the pen will fit inside, you could use that. maybe elevate the cage on bricks inside it so they stay dry out of the runoff...
and it needs a warmer. otherwise, looking good!
