Here's my DIY Coop!

I love the design and the colors, WAO!!! no skills you did awesome.... We just finished building the chicken run and now is my time to decorated.

Here's a few pics of my main coop! I added curtains (I have two sets but the only pic I have had one set because I ran out of material and had to buy more). I also have tried my hand at a greenhouse since then! The greenhouse has been coming along so nicely that I'm going to use those same plans and modify them slightly to build a new, larger coop.

Nice job! A frames are not that easy, you nailed it. :highfive: I plan on doing something similar to this but a little bigger soon for some meat birds. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I'd definetly make changes to the entire plan if I had to do it all over again, including modifying how the sides connect to the ridge beam. At the same time, it was a horrendous pain to build that thing and I couldn't have chosen a tougher plan as a beginner! I'm not sure I WOULD want to do it again!

Can you share those plans?
For the greenhouse I used the plans in this book https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/step-...-cool-springs-press/13532321/#isbn=159186688X "Step-by-Step Projects for Self-Sufficiency". I highly recommend the book! There are so many cool projects in it, including some chicken coops. I had already built mine before buying this book. The greenhouse plan did not include the addition of windows but I've been adding them as I find them. They have all been free or purchased for less than $5 including the door.

We didn't make any plans for our coop. Did it all on the fly and it turned out excellent. Made out of both reused and new bought materials when we built it.

Love theyou way both ofof yours are made now that I take a closer look.

Thank you! I bought my main coop pre-fab when I was first starting out but I really hate it because I can't stand up in it. I was told it was for up to 25 chickens which, I think they meant 25 pigeons because it's WAY too small for 25 chickens. In terms of the exterior, I want to borrow the ideas for the siding and windows because they do look great like that. I purchased over 1000 feet of rough cut lumber for $200 and will probably use that for the siding of the new coop and may split the lumber into small strips to seal the holes similar to my main coop. It's crazy the ideas you come up as you do more projects and learn more. I couldn't imagine building a coop of your size on the fly!

I like your coop. I am working on a big coop for the spring projects . I have a little coop ,hold two standard size chickens. I have a mid size coop, hold 6 standard size chickens. I am redoing a barn shed that will hold 30 standard size chickens. So have you built your big coop yet?

No I haven't. My "homestead" is brand new to us so I have to focus on fencing in our run and our garden. My hope is after gardening/canning season is over I can build a new coop in the fall. In addition to the small purple coop, I do have a prefab coop suitable for about 15 chickens, but I will have 16 chickens come May so I will need a much larger coop soon. Fall seems a long way off!
