here's our coop so far . . .

I like the funnel part of the PVC, great idea. MORE PICS (please)

I know about using PVC pipe for a feeder, but I liked the look of the rain gutter better since it sits flat against the framing of the coop, and it uses those cool little clippy things that will make it quick to take out for cleaning and then put back . . . and yeah, the funnel part is icing on the cake. I didn't even think about that part till I saw it at Home Depot. Oo - and I'm going to cut a section of the remaining downspout to make a cap for the funnel. Haven't figured out yet some sort of cover that would protect the open portion at the bottom if it gets rained on - any thoughts? I'm planning on putting one in the henhouse and one in the run, but it would be nice if the "outdoor" one was somewhat weatherproof (although it only rains about three times a year around here

Is it Saturday yet?

I'm planning on a pvc feeder but i'm gonna try a Tee fitting on the bottom and have one side of tee into coop and the other in the run. This way i can fill in one place and not even have to go into coop or run. Your coop looks great. Good Luck

I hope your run is covered. I had my feeder in the run (with a cover) and the moisture ruin the feed. Bad, wet, molded food will get the birds sick. Becareful!

Ok! Weather was beautiful today so I got busy. Framed the door myself:

. . . put a lip on the floor of the henhouse to hold the bedding in (that whole end facing the run will stay open)

. . . and trimmed the fenceboards that (I hope) conceal the coop from people looking over our gate:

Installed the feeder (there'll be another one inside the henhouse):

. .. and gave the automatic waterer a test-run:

The cage over the waterer is a hanging plant basket - hoping to keep the birds off the waterer. I ran the water using leftover drip irrigation stuff I had around, and it's sitting in a pot to keep it elevated and level.
I'm so excited!! We're going to try to finish tomorrow and move the girls out in the afternoon - fingers crossed!

You are doing a great job...inspirational. I see you too have the "Tim Allen Syndrome" bigger, better, more power, ggggrrrrrrrrrr. I like the boards running vertically as well. Keep the pic's coming.....

What a beautiful piece of work. I love it. It's got real nice features. One suggestion. I would not have a feeder outside. You will attract rodents. Better the food can be locked up with the chooks at night. Looking forward to more pics!
