I cant have my chickies in my back yard but this lot down the road is looking pretty promising. I have permission by the land owner to use it (a few of you maybe remember me) and I finally went and took pics of what I have for a beginner coop and im planning a renovation also. How many birds would I nees to start out with? My family eats around ten eggs a day (yumyum!) And would it affect the feed to just leave it in a bin/bucket in my trunk? Im planning on visiting them every morning to let them out and feed/water and evening to lick them up. If you have any renivation ideas please throw them my way! http://i1315.photobucket.com/albums/t600/thefostersranch/20130630_132811_zpse559353a.jpg

Frame is pretty sound. Wood looks to be in great shape and I plan on cleaning out and making it a floir and off the ground. A run is also in the plans.. its going to be my summer project.

! Great to have you aboard! Sorry, I couldn't open the pics. But good luck to you and your flock!

10 eggs per. day they are not machines and you can't depend on an egg a day. I would guess you need 14 or 15 hens. As far as the coop it looks to be in good shape with a little cleanup it should be just fine. Does not matter where you keep your feed as long as it is high and dry.
Good luck

I'd measure the coop to see how much sq ft is has. I'd say about 4sq ft per bird in the coop & 10 sqft per bird in the run. That should help you figure out how many can fit.
