Heritage Delawares @ 15 Weeks Old (PICS)

no wattles at all on any, but I can see no coloring in the tails and some that do have black in their tails. I will pay more attention this afternoon. Thanks.

WOWEEE! !!!!

WHAT GORGEOUS BIRDS!

I'm new here, and this is my first post. I just have been wanting chickens for so long, all my life it seems, and so happy that I found this site. After seeing these pictures and reading aobut Heritage breeds, perhaps that is the way to go. I was planning on finding some baby chicks in the spring, but maybe somewhere there are some Heritage chicks for sale? How do I find them? A friend has a place that I could put them for the winter, until my new place is finished.

I am in love with these Delaware birds!!!

NEWBIECHICKLOVER, welcome to BYC! For true heritage lines, you'd have to go to a breeder. The next best thing, I suppose, would be Sandhill Preservation, though some lines of certain breeds, I'm not too sure about (heard about issues from other people). I'm fortunate that this person trusted me with these beauties and I'll be getting more eggs in the spring from the same breeder, but different lines.
Jared, I'll be glad to send you eggs in the spring, when you thaw out a bit way out there, LOL. I'll certainly post their progress. We will be moving them to a new coop in a few months to give them more room and so I can add more Delawares.

What should I bee looking for in terms of good breeders in my dellies. I guess I am meaing the coloring in their colors. Some of mine has very little color. Again they are right at 13 weeks old.

I am just learning more about the breed myself. I think we need seriousbill to pop in and comment on breed traits. Maybe you should post pictures of yours in a separate thread (so it is seen by more people) and see if a breeder can help you with your questions.
