Heritage/Exhibition Delawares Hatched!

Thanks, Cyn!

I will say that I'm fairly pleased with where they are right now. I have some well-marked females, and that's a major hurdle with this breed. So, I have high hopes for the future!

Edited to add: Okay, y'all, here's one of the young girls I'm keeping from the main spring hatch, just so you can see what I mean about a work-in-progress with potential. This pic is a couple of weeks old. She has filled out a bit more and just started laying. I like the look so far, although there's room for improvement:

I just wanted to add that I'm on Day 15 on eggs out of this girl's look-alike sister.

I would love to see pics of the parents...I have never seen exhibition Delawares before.

Cyn's subject heading describes the lines, not the parents. :| The pullet above is an accurate representative of what I have right now.

Cyn I am so excited for you. Ever Since I got into chickens I have wanted a flock of Quality Delawares. Best of luck to you.

Sorry I got you into trouble here, Janet! Yes, I was describing the ancestry of the babies I have, as opposed to hatchery lines. I am personally very impressed with the parents, but I know Janet isn't ready to "unveil" what she's working on yet. I am just so pleased with the opportunity to have the "real" Delawares, not the hatchery models, if you know what I mean.

It's fine, Cyn! LOL! They are heritage birds, and some are from an exhibition line, and it's quite fine for you to claim that lineage for your new wee ones. We can enjoy them just fine for what they are without worrying much about what they're not
