Heritage Large Fowl - Phase II

I weighed some large fowl Wyandottes today that I am going to show next month. I knew they felt big and heavy, but now I know how heavy. I have 11 pullets, the two that are smallest weigh 6 pounds and the rest are 7-7 1/2 pounds at 8 months. I also weighed a cockerel I hatched at the end of June and he is 6lbs 2oz. at 5 months. I still have another cockerel to weigh, I am thinking he is a atleast 8-9 pounds at 8 months based on how he feels compared to the pullets.

Better a little over than under. Easier to lose it than gain it.

What about some pictures? Do not see many Wyandottes on here.

Someone was talking about Mottled Houdans a while back. Barb Piper bred some good Standard Mottled Houdans in OK, but passed away. Apparently she sold some to a guy named David West. Haven't been able o track him down, but this page of the Houdan thread
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/446495/houdans/280
names a BYCer that bought a pullet from him which went on to become a Champion. So maybe the start of a grapevine here to track down some high quality Mottled Houdans.
Best,
Karen

This is a cockerel I am going to show next month, he is 8 months old, I have not weighed him yet.

This is a White cockerel I hatched at the end of June.

This is my favorite SLW cockerel but he has not grown all his wing feathers back in from molting, so I can't show him.

Texas, those are gorgeous birds. It was getting dizzy trying to see the details. LOL

Thank you for sharing the pictures. Now I am going to chop off the heads of all my birds. LOL.
Yeah I know what you mean, lol, I stare at them everyday and study their lacing, it can be overwhelming until you get used to seeing the lacing pattern.

Thank you very much, I am happy with them.
