I took the photo in Ventura, CA. I didn't look at the card on the coop so, I don't know who the owner of this particular SS Hamburg is.
Some of my photos were blurry due to the cage in focus instead of the bird.

Yes! Inland Empire.

I understand the confusion...Victorville/Perris CA

Yesterday I went to the Ohio National Poultry Show in Columbus, Ohio. I did not show but thoroughly enjoyed my time as an attendee. I heard there was almost 6000 birds entered and 501 exhibitors. The biggest show that I had ever been to and maybe a little overwhelming but still a great experience. A couple things of interest that I noted was the Champion American Class - a New Hampshire cockerel exhibited by Guy Roy of Massachusetts. He also had reserve breed with a pullet. Note the pics..they are not great as they are from my phone. The males were the nicest NH's that I had ever personally ever seen. Allen Smith was there..very approachable and a pleasure to speak with. Too much to list. Anyway, That was my quick recap.
That bird was simply stunning. My daughter kept whispering in my ear "Mom, I want New Hampshires!" after seeing his birds.

I was pleased to bring back the Lakenvelder trio I had ordered from Duane Urch. They are in rather rough shape, so no pictures for now, but are structurally and color-wise very fine samples of the breed, as far as I can tell. Happily ensconced in a tractor, the females started scarfing up grass almost immediately, and one of the two hens has laid an egg for two days in a row now. I plan to hatch every one I get from them!

The OH National is a wonderful show. After judging, Terry Britt was kind enough to talk to some of the Buckeye breeders and give us his impressions of where we are now, where we need to go, and how to get there (in his opinion.) The ABPC also presented Mr. Urch with a plaque thanking him for his many years of devotion to the Buckeye breed. Without him, we wouldn't have the old line(s) of Buckeyes he has been keeping for the past 50+ years. He's a man of few words, but I think he was pleased to receive it. ;)

A great time was had by all!
