Heritage Large Fowl - Phase II

Winner of the NH meet at Knoxville by Steven Gribble(sgribble) this is a better pic than you saw on FB I think apdeb pictures can sure change up alot of stuff so hard to judge by lots of times. I don't like to take pics of mine because I don't know what I'm doing mostly as they never look the way I see them in person most of the time. Jeff
I can tell that this is a great bird. w

The best way to deal with this kind of stuff, is not to. I am sorry that is hard, but that is part of raising livestock. You have to keep the health of the flock in mind more than an individual. The more we tolerate in a breed, the less secure that breed is.
There is nothing "Heritage" about genetic weakness.

Keeping pets might be one thing, but breeding is another. You have to go one way or the other.

You are SO right.....I have heard many times "your will have in your flock whatever you accept". Survival of the fitness is in full swing at my place

I posted this on another thread but wanted to get your guys' input. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep my eggs from breaking in the nesting box? I try to keep the shavings nice and thick but if I'm not careful the one hen will move all the shavings up the side of the nesting box. Then when she goes to lay an egg it breaks because it hits directly on the wood.

Yes I have been giving free choice oyster shells. Carpet.... now there's a thought.
If you use carpet squares....find a flooring dealer that sells COMMERCIAL products. There are carpet tiles that have a very soft/flexible (almost rubber) back....be sure to fold it partially up the sides/back of the box to cushion the "roll"

I only know this because I'm in the flooring business (sorry)

I saw some of these at Big Lots for sale, was thinking about getting them for the dogs.
