Heritage Large Fowl - Phase II

Thanks Jeff and all others for the good wishes..Keep in mind I only have ONE EYE (compliments of Charlie) to begin with and the
Dr( Jerry Black, of Buckhannon WV) who is doing the 'surgery' (in his office) is 76 years old

No kidding...he's the best around and I wanted to get him to do it before he retires....dies!

While I will truly be extremely busy, the real reason I am taking a sabbatical is the fact that I have become 'addicted' to BYC and have to quit 'Cold Turkey'. After I'm cured..I'll be back. I still have the week end to raise ....cane!!

ADDENDUM: As many of you know, this is day-surgery and I will walk out of the office about an hour or so after the job is done. I would have had this done long ago but needed reliable help around the farm so I could take a couple days off..Good help is hard to find.

Good luck brother

I hope that it goes well Ron.
Thanks a bunch George.

I think we discussed 'empty pens' a while back..you were right and I'm not totally surprised. The void made by selling the Australorps will indeed be filled with production bred NNs. Since we started remodeling another building for SOP birds, it seems like the only practical thing to do..to Someone Else!

I really don't mind because the demand for eggs is there but I'm getting a little long-in the-tooth and 'Someone' else will have to pick up the slack....of me climbing my butt on a flying machine and heading south...now and again. 'Someone' will have to stay home and take care of everything.

I have a lady and her daughter who could have dealt with one house but no way can they deal with a two full houses and enlargement of the dairy herd. (We bottle-feed..only).

Anyhow, the new Boss will be tested and I hope Marines don't cry!

That's a pretty cool headboard there Ron! I'm trying to figure out how it works. Obviously, when he hits the panel, it tips back and the shotgun falls into his hands. But how to make that mechanism work?
I said 'designed in West Virginia' but not by me.

Looks like it wouldn't be too hard to rig up. Obviously a delayed pressure release on the weapon.

I don't need such a thing but I'd bet plenty of folks will have it!

Ron, concerning the extra space. I have always tried to have extra pens and extra space. Especially useful for clean outs, treating for mites, etc.

Not saying that to you so much as for any reader that is getting into this. It is wise to have some overflow, and a temporary pen or two.
