Heritage Turkey Hatchery...opinions?

We ordered goslings in November and when I wrote to PRP in April to make sure the order existed on their part they very curtly replied that they don't give ship dates OR any information. So I waited another month and wrote again. This time they were even more insulting and told me that they would cancel my order if I wanted. At first I said yes until he told me that they would take 25% plus Paypal's fee before refunding. So I said never mind just give me an idea of when...even if it's just a window. Again, insulting and accusatory emails...suggesting that I was demanding to be moved to the front of the order line. Anyway, the emails got worse and HE finally cancelled my order without my consent but still kept the 25%+. I've never been treated so badly by a business...especially for asking for delivery information so I can prepare properly. And he ended up with $150 of our money for doing nothing. He'll now sell my goslings and make a huge profit. I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt but this guy is way out of line and should not be in business.

I would have gotten paypal involved.

Thanks for posting...I have made a complaint to PayPal but they denied the claim because it was past their 45 day limit. But they did list on his account that there was a complaint. So it would be best if all the other folks who have had the same situation or the like would also file a complaint to PayPal. It is unconscionable that he is business. He's working the system to double dip as well as being a bad business person.

So the other paypal complaint may have been from me. I am glad I am not the only one who complained to them. You are right, that paypal will not charge back after 45 days. Now I am not saying this hatchery is trying to scam, but consider this: I ordered from them in February. Then, at the end of May, when I email to ask about the birds, the response was that they were going to cancel my order. BTW, look at their website. Don't know if you remember, but they had a page touting that they were members of the Ohio Poultry Assn, and also members of the NPIP. That page is now gone. Neither the NPIP or the Ohio Poultry Assn had any knowledge or record of either "Heritage Turkey Hatchery" or "Plum Run Poultry" when I contacted these offices on Thursday, May 30, 2013. Anyway, against my wishes, they too cancelled my order and charged me for the transaction fee, in spite of the fact I consistently told them I wanted the order filled and not a cancellation/refund. They allegedly had some very hard to find geese (Pilgrim), but I never received them. Apparently, they expect their customers to pay up front, and then sit quietly and wait for an undetermined time until they decide to ship. And as they were more than willing to point out, their website clearly states "For those who cant wait or keep asking, we will cancel your order".

That is no way to do business. Sorry ya'll have had to go through this.

I'm very glad you posted. And am glad that you contacted Paypal. I sure hope that other's read this post before ordering from this person. The main reason I've posted and complained to the authorities is for that reason. I would love for you to contact the BBB and Attorney General's office too. I was also planning to contact the NPIP, etc. but since he fraudulently said he was listed with those organizations it is a moot point.

I don't believe it is all right to take someone's money with no communication for six months or more. And whenever you feel like it cancel their order because it wasn't done as you wanted...or worse because they simply wanted to know where they were on the "list" or when they might expect. In each of my emails I kept asking for a time frame...not an exact date. I was called names, was accused of lying and wanting to bump others out of order...not to mention taking...really stealing... my money since he didn't get my permission to cancel the order.

Thanks again for posting.

we have many happy customers. one thing that we will not tolerate is repetative, harrasing or threatning emails. or secretay does not deserve that. some people feel that they must have their way no matter what. we are glad you stated you didnt ask to cancel your order. this is your email to us...

I'm sorry for your health issues. I still feel that you could have let me know that I was at the end of the list...I would have had no way of knowing from your website and order process. I would have understood and yes, I am patient if I have all of the information.

I will look for my refund and will make other arrangements.

Have a Blessed Day,
Suzanne

Not sure it would be a moot point to contact Ohio Poultry Association. BTW, PRP reads these posts, so I won't expand more than to say it may not be a moot point.
And let me add I am not saying there was fraudulent activity. I am only saying Neither the NPIP or the Ohio Poultry Assn had any knowledge or record of either "Heritage Turkey Hatchery" or "Plum Run Poultry" when I contacted these offices on Thursday, May 30, 2013. Thank you for your idea about the Att. General. If you are planning to escalate, you may also wish to consider www.ic3.gov/complaint/ (this one was recommended to me by the folks at paypal, who appeared to be sympathetic that the 45-day window had passed).
Okay, so now for some good news! I discovered another site, "strombergschickens.com" --haven't gotten my birds yet, but I expect them Wednesday (yes they gave me a ship date, and yes they were available by phone). Have some HTF birds, (on hand) too!

hmmm...you forgot to add the next email threads where you told me you were going to take 25% + and I said never mind...fill my order. Again, you should not be in business.
