I have one baby chick that looks like it has an hernia where the umbillical cord was attached. Will is heal? How long should it take to heal? It isn't that big but the other chicks peck at it so I put it in a seperate container so the other chicks couldn't bother it. I will try to post a picture when I get home this evening.

Just make sure that the flesh bit doesn't get stuck to the paper towel or whatever the chick is lying on. If it's just a small wound, it should dry up and scab over quite quickly. Like, within a day. And once the chick is totally fluffed up, the other chicks won't be able to see it and won't pick at it any more.

I've had the same problem before with mixed success curing it. One had a small eversion, and it died shortly. The other managed to drag the yolk sac and part of its intestines out as they were still attached to the shell, and it was inches away. I managed to clean it up and carefully stuff its bits back in. Both were pushing things right back out with every peep. I managed to close things up with a small round bandaid dabbed with neosporin. The macabre eversed chick survived, the other didn't.

Oh that IS good news.

Very happy for you. Glad it's all working out fine.
