I have a flock of 9 BBS rock hens (Halo's breeding) . Last week we have to "permanently remove" the Blue Rock roo that was with them as he had gotten WAY too aggressive with me and the family.
I tried to put a 4 month old Columbian Rock roo in with them (he is 1/2 again their size) and they literally attacked him. Bloodied his comb, etc, so I put him back in his pen. I have been trying to get him out every other day when I let my rocks free range to
1. Give him room to escape
2. Introduce him to the girls
However, if they even come close to him, he runs (still remembers the beating I guess). I really would like for these girls to have a flock rooster to look out for them.....any suggestions for doing anything different? I hate the thought of just putting him in there and letting them mob him again since he won't defend himself
Is this just the case of a "sissy rooster"??
Help please, and thanks
Scott
