They probably should be raised separately from the ones you believe are layers. The meaties tend to stay near the feed and the regular chicks won't get enough to eat. Some folks will withhold feed (to meaties only) for 12 hrs. and leave feed with them for the other 12 hrs. This is so they don;t eat themselves to death. If they eat less and have to walk to a feeder (as far away as possible) it makes them exercise which they truly need to do.
Because they grow so fast, their organs cannot support them for long- they get strokes or heart attacks and/or their legs give out from their weight. So they are generally processed at 8-12 weeks. This is really something you wouldn't want to see happen to them. I agree you should take them back.
