He's or she's?

Only the big two look like meat birds to me, the others look like they're a layer breed. I love the little brown one, so cute!

:) Still think I might get a few more.

Yea, the little brown one is quite the cutie. She tries to lay under all the others.

You may have 2 chickens that are typically meat chickens and they do grow faster, I noticed that they also seem to have a slower time growing in feathers when i raised them.

Seems like that with these as well.

Since this is my first run with chickens, I'm learning quite a bit.

They probably should be raised separately from the ones you believe are layers. The meaties tend to stay near the feed and the regular chicks won't get enough to eat. Some folks will withhold feed (to meaties only) for 12 hrs. and leave feed with them for the other 12 hrs. This is so they don;t eat themselves to death. If they eat less and have to walk to a feeder (as far away as possible) it makes them exercise which they truly need to do.

Because they grow so fast, their organs cannot support them for long- they get strokes or heart attacks and/or their legs give out from their weight. So they are generally processed at 8-12 weeks. This is really something you wouldn't want to see happen to them. I agree you should take them back.

So, we've decided to keep them. We did separate them and everyone seems happy and no one is lonely. There was a little squawking by everyone at first, but they are all settlers now. Their browsers are right next to each other, so they can hear each other.

I know it'll be sad, but I'd rather them be with us then taking them back.

I talked to tractor supply and they will give me two more pullets since they have me the "wrong" kind. Hopefully they'll be she's.
