(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not brand new, but certainly still learning. We have had a small backyard flock for 2 years now, but we are looking to get a little bigger.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently have 7 hens, but just brought home 5 chicks to add to the flock.
(3) What breeds do you have?
A variety. Rhode Island Reds, Buff Orpington, Plymouth Rock, Australorp, Brahma, Ameraucana, Easter Egger, and 1 Silkie Bantam
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are a welcome addition to our backyard. The seem to be helping with the insects and we certainly appreciate the eggs. I think it has helped my kids understand the responsibility of helping around the house and caring for animals.
