What, we can ask how many times a day people bathe, but we can't ask if they're gay?

Everybody bathes, and everybody's children know that people bathe. However, there are very likely children on here who do not know the modern meaning of 'gay', and it's because the parents aren't ready to discuss it. We really don't want BYC getting a bad reputation because a kid goes to her mom and says, "Mom, what does it mean for somebody to be gay?" Or worse, "Why were they so upset about a thread about people being happy?"​

While I don't agree with the lifestyle (raised by Bible thumpers, there are verses) I have a few gay cousins and I love them all and enjoy my time with them very very much and would never deny them love, but I will not tell them that I think what they are doing is right. They know it, I know it, we all still get along fine, just went to dinner with one last week and chatted for 3 hours.

the person didn't ask about dating but asked about anyone having trouble with their family/other people being uncomfortable with them at social functions.

they were not asking to date anyone but a legitimate dayly problem that many people face.

There are many things I like about BYC forum and one is that the folks on the forum come from lots of different backgrounds and have lots of different opinions on things, but we all are interested in chickens. I know I wouldn't probably get a chance to meet and talk chickens and poultry with such a wide array of people without the forum.

WOW thanks for all the support Guys and Gals, my post was to simply ask if there are other gays, that live in rural settings , and seem to feel odd when you go to local social fucntions/ and family oriented outings barbe ques etc, I am not looking for anybody or anyone!

There is nothing wrong with this thread. I'm not either but if others object they don't have to click the line just as any other they don't choose to read. Only reason i'm here is I knew there would be some to chime in their opposing opinions. The thread was asking if there are any other gay people here. It wasn't asking anybody's opinion about it.

This thread should not be closed. As long as it doesn't turn into material and conversations unappropriate for children because there are many that hang out in BYC. It's a persons on personal business on their preferences and not for others to judge.

I've been in the chat room or I used to and it used to get real heated and not angry either. I stopped going because I never got any immediate help for all the smack going back and forth. Although I haven't even looked to see if it is still open, i'm gonna go with it hasn't. If so i'm surprised. It definately WASN'T family friendly in there.

I vote don't close this thread. People can still have conversations thru PM's.

It's better than them finding out from friends, who more than likely will judge them. I think that everyone has their own opinon and everyone should respect it, I don't know why these things always come to this.
