I'm amazed at the ignorant posts here, really as a Christian I am taught to love the person hate the sin, but bashing is not what God wants you to do. So that person asked a question big deal! Gay is not the issue, love is and by love I mean love, kindness and showing all these. Who cares if the person asked if anyone was gay here, it's only question , but when you start bashing others, and the non Christians bashing Christians, well neither side is showing kindness ! No God did not make Adam andSteve to marry or to be in love, but he did make Adam and Steve and he loves them so stop bashing each other . Who ever is gay does not offend me, it's those who have no mercy or love and judge accordingly, both sides ! I'm not gay, but I love everyone and to bash anyone is not in line with God word.

I'm bi, and trans, and looking forward to starting a family and doing some homesteading. We're out here, and will be here even if this thread gets shut down because someone decides there's something 'wrong' with us, don't worry.

And to answer the actual question...yeah, I do often feel out of place at more 'rural' events. I've had several people assume that it's okay to gay-bash around me or make jokes about transgender people because at first glance I guess I look like any other white guy. And depending on the environment, it's not always safe to speak up.

As a result, I've just started avoiding a lot of those events. I rarely go watch local horse events, which bums me out because it's something I really enjoy.

This site (last I checked) isn't a "Christian Website". There are Christians here, as well as other religions and atheists too. If someone sees a "gay" thread in the Random Ramblings section, they have the option not to click on it if it's a topic that's offensive to them. But to suggest it's not a "family friendly" topic is outright insulting. Now, when people come on and start a religious debate, yes, it will get closed. But it should not be closed because of the "gay" topic, it should only be closed if (and certainly when) people freak out and start quoting the bible and calling this a "sinful" site. I'm Buddhist, surrounded by a ton of Christians, and it's never occurred to me not to come to BYC because I'm outnumbered by someone's religion, give me a break. It's called tolerance. We have plenty of topics about people talking about their straight lives, why can't people talk about their gay lives? It's not a dating thread, the OP already established that. I fully expect this thread won't be allowed, but I will think it's truly sad.
