Actually it's powder down not dander, all birds produce dander but cockatoos produce powder down (as do 'tiels and Amazons). They don't produce oil because they live in a dry climate so that's why they have dust
I'm aware. I've hand-fed hundreds of hookbills and have worked with 60+ species, nearly double that with mutations, and attended bird shows and bird clubs, and for several years helped manage a parrot breeding operation in Texas. :)

I get really sad and angry when I search YouTube for cockatoo care and all the videos are telling "DO NOT GET A COCKATOO!" I know that most people aren't cut out for it but don't make them sound like crazy, aggressive, horrors of parrots.the only thing is they are needier then other large parrots
They are like any other type of animal. certain animals need more attention..my blue heeler is a jealous butt hole that requires my constant attention. If dogs can be that way why not birds..I've always thought of myself as a bird person. I had cockatiels and parakeets growing up. Always wanted ..love birds. Yup I know they're not cockatoos ☺️ your birdy is pretty.. does he do that funny dance with his head😁

Yes cookie does do head banging dances. She loves to dance to pitbull's Fireball, it's her favorite song. You should check out my thread on just house birds if you want to chat more since you don't have a cockatoo, you're welcome to stick around here if you like too though

Exactly people are always saying about how needy they are when it's just like any other kind of animal they have special needs.
