Hey everyone! Questions about egg layer chickens.....

I am new but not new.... I can't remember my old log in information, so I set up new info.

I used to raise Silkie and I love them to death! I found that even ordering them from other states.... they were not the quality that was worth the money that I paid for them.

I am wanting some good eggs everyday and some pretty chickens like the silkies but I don't want to get messed around again after spending thousands of dollars i'm sure.

Anyway, I hear that Maran's are great laying chickens is that true? What are your thoughts about what chickens I should get again.

I have 2 incubators and would love to hatch out chicks again! but I don't want to hatch something that people do not want to buy.

I can't advise you on hatching out chicks because I choose not to but on egg layers, I can tell you who's impressed me the most.

1) Americaunas or Easter Eggers, my girls are egg laying MACHINES

2) Buff Orpingotns, 2nd only to EE's

3) Wyandottes

I tend to buy some of the pretty birds just for the fun of looking at them but I always include the EE's and Orps for quantity egg laying capabilities.
