Hey everyone, my name is Mary. I visit this site all the time to get my chicken raising questions answered, so I figured it was about time that I actually joined
I’ve only had my feathered babies for about 9 months, I’m still super new to the whole thing so I’m always asking questions and looking for advice.

I’m engaged and planning a June wedding. My Fiancé and I live with an American Bulldog, 5 cats and our 5 chickens in a small southern Kentucky town. (we have a happy little home)
We have 3 hens (Dottie, Kit, and Chip) and 2 roosters (Red, and Lou) who we thought were actually Lucy and Red... until they started crowing ‍♀️ LoL but I love my roosters.

I hope to be welcomed here, and I’m looking forward to becoming apart of the back yard chicken family.

Glad you're here Mary!

If you haven't yet, please make your poultry a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it! :D

Hello Mary and a warm welcome to BYC :frow

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - Find Your State Thread

All the best
