Hey everyone!

We keep our home around 70f. I have a thermometer that reads 74 in their box. They are using the lamp this morning lol. I’m in Virginia at the foot hills of the Shenandoah mountains. It can be a bit chilly at times. These guys seem to have grown over night lol! The co op wasn’t sure how old they were. They said maybe a couple days old. They seemed too big to be a couple days old. I’m not too sure. I’m thinking during the days here it should be warm enough to turn it off. I’m new to this so I really don’t want to make a mistake. Some people view them as Ducks and oh well, not me. Their life is just as valuable as ours and I have the responsibility of being papa duck.
I am new to ducklings and have had mine since they were a week old. They are a month old now. The way I had my brooder set up, it barely got up to 70. They did well. I have read a lot and ducklings don't need as much heat as chicks.
If you have time, you could take the lamp away for a bit to see how they act. If they seem cold, turn it back on. Mine huddle together, but not all of the time. And they never seem cold. Just must like to snuggle. Last night I had a regular light on for them (or for me so I could see them) and they were all laying spread out when I went to check on them. I would just watch your ducklings to get an idea of the next step. One thing when I let them have bath time, I turned the heat lamp on to dry off. That worked well for my crew.

Daffy and little foot love their duck friend. They are just relaxing this morning. I love how they stretch their little legs out. This morning Daffy sounded like he was almost sneezing. Should I be worried for him? Or is he just maybe clearing his beak out from some food maybe stuck?
They sneeze. It is nothing to worry about unless they seem clogged or have mucus. I might have asked already, but how deep is their water source?

We are going to do a swim tonight. We did a swim a couple days ago and they loved it. We have some warm days coming, they shouldn’t need the lamp maybe except for night then I’m thinking? I haven’t turned off the lamp today, they’ve been under it the whole time.

Daffy n Littlefoot after one week in our home. Such a joy! They have grown about double in size now

So my duck got ahold of a B.B. and I tried to grab him before he could down it. He chose to eat it. Now I’m worried. I’ve read posts that say they should pass it. Has anyone ever experienced this? I would think that it would pass through? Anyone know?

Great pics they are dolls.

Metal is very scary for a duck to ingest they can get metal poisoning not trying to scare you just stating a fact. I would watch their poop very closely for next few days.

One week! Omgosh! They are like little gizmos! Can’t feed them after 12 or they double! Lol. My babies are getting too big!
