I am new to raising chicks. Its 70 degrees outside and was wondering at what age and temps if any can i start putting them outside for 20-30 minutes at a time in a small confined area where i can watch them the entire time? they are only a couple days old. I have alot of time on my hands and would like to get them out if at all do able. let me know any input is much appreciated. thanks

It depends, earliest is 3-4 weeks, but you would want to watch and make sure they don't get too cold. At 1 day to 1 week they should be in 95/90 degrees temp, 2 weeks 85, 3 weeks 80, etc.

I would agree with Tiramisu. In the first couple of weeks they definitely need a heat lamp. I did the same thing-dropping the temp by about 5 degrees a week. My chicks are 5 weeks old and ventured outside for the first time this week. (we've had a really chilly and wet spring so far).

Good luck with your chicks!

I took mine out at a couple weeks when it was sunny, in the 70's and low wind, one started "shivering" her tail feathers
after about 20 minutes so I took them back inside.
