I just registered and wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Mike and I'm wanting to get some chickens. I'm a professional firefighter and love riding my Gold Wing.
A friend is giving me a couple chickens to get me started. I'm working on a coop this week.

Hey Mike, nice to meet you. Glad you joined the Backyard chickens flock. The Learning Center, is the best place to start your chicken education. You may also like to post on your state thread. Could be you will find chickeners in your neighborhood.

Hi :welcome Mike

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on getting your chicken adventures started :celebrate As drumstick said the learning centre is a great place to start. Here is the link if you have not already checked it out ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
It has lots of super articles on keeping your birds happy safe and healthy.

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

Welcome to BYC, Mike. Glad you decided to join our flock. Honda Gold Wings are great cycles; one of the best for traveling cross country on. X2 on drumstick diva; if you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your coop finished.

Hi Mike,

If you'd like to say hello to other members in VA, you can find some of them here on your state thread:

Congratulations on getting your first chickens...don't be surprised when that 2 turns into 12 (or 20). Chicken math has a way of taking over!

Good luck and if you have questions, always feel free to ask.
